Experience

Jim has spent most of his legal career in Marion, South Carolina. After graduating from law school in 1977, he began his career with William H. Seals in a general practice that included personal injury and workers’ compensation matters. During those years he served on Marion City Council and as Marion County attorney.

In 1996 he was elected as a Circuit Court judge and served until 2005, when he became general counsel at Santee Cooper, retiring in 2014. He returned to Santee Cooper as interim president and CEO in 2017 and served in that role until 2019.

Jim now serves of counsel to Brogdon Law Group, focusing on complex injury and business litigation in Marion.
